Dermal Fillers & Anti Wrinkle Injections

HOW DO ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS WORK?

Anti wrinkle injections contain Botulinum Toxin A which acts by relaxing the muscle, reducing the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.

WHAT ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS?

There are various dermal fillers on the market, however we only use JUVÉDERM® fillers which contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, which acts to plump and hydrate skin tissue to reduce appearance of wrinkles and give the skin a more youthful appearance. The production of naturally occurring Hyaluronic acid decreases as we age, so fillers act by replacing that deficiency. Its plumping property also gives it use in augmentation of facial features such as lip or cheek augmentation.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT BEFORE TREATMENT?

Our Doctors will have an in-depth consultation with you to understand your needs and what facial features you would like to enhance. He will explain all the options to make sure your treatment meets your expectations.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Our Doctors will advise you on your aftercare. You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours. You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for 2 weeks.

Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites. It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 days.

IS IT SAFE?
Dermal Fillers are safe in the quantities used for anti-wrinkle treatments. As dermal fillers contain a naturally occurring substance, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction.

HOW LONG DO THEY LAST FOR?

Anti-wrinkle injections take 1-2 weeks to work and last for 3-4 months.
Dermal fillers work immediately and can last up to 12 months.

WILL ALL MY WRINKLES DISAPPEAR?
Most wrinkles can be treated with a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers
Our Doctors will suggest an individualised treatment plan particular to you.

IS IT PAINFUL?

There may be a small sting associated with the injection, however, this has been likened to acupuncture. There is usually no pain following on from the treatment.

The smooth consistency of the products allows your medical physician to administer the filler easily and smoothly. Many also contain 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience.

WILL THERE BE SWELLING?

Following a filler injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injected area. These effects should not last for more than a week. Remember, 12 hours after your procedure you can cover up any skin discoloration with makeup.
